My name is Elissa Meyers. I am going to be a senior Industrial Design student at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. This summer I am doing an internship for the business ASK Apparel located in Nashville, TN. They print and dye fabric with natural dyes. I have been interested in the process for a couple years and felt it would be a good opportunity to really learn the whole process. ASK Apparel is one of the only businesses I could find in the U.S. that produces completely sustainably printed and dyed fabrics. This site is documentation of my experiences at the studio and the farm.
Greg just sent me this site. Very cool. I wish I had been reading it all summer! Can’t wait to see you when you get back and hear all about it. Bring some samples of stuff you dyed. I would love to see it. Too bad my father’s gone. He was a chemist for Rohm & Haas and probably would wanted to hear all about this.
